I enjoyed the chapter of Ancient Egypt and Nubia in Social Studies class this year in sixth grade. I found this interesting because the Egyptians believed that when a pharaoh died, its soul, or ka in Egypt, still ruled after death. In this chapter we learned about mummies and how the mummification process happened and pyramids where the royal was buried. We also learned about pharaohs and how they ruled their kingdoms in this chapter, and finally, the only women pharaoh, Queen Hatshepsut.
Some skills I learned in Social Studies were how to read and complete a map and how to correctly fill out questions by restating it completely. I can apply this knowledge to the real world by knowing where to get somewhere with just a map, scale of miles, and a compass; and a car would help too. I can impress my professors in college with restating essay questions on a big exam for a few extra points and so they know exactly what I am talking about. I hope that in the future I will be able to expand this knowledge so I can complete great things one day.
